Is the minimum local analgesic concentration method robust enough?
To the Editor:—We read with interest the articles by Polley et al. and Benhamou et al. in which they simultaneously published the same study in terms of objective and design performed on different continents. Minimum local analgesic concentration results, including the potency ratios, were surprisingly different from expectations. In a similar study comparing bupivacaine and ropivacaine minimum...
متن کاملThe effect of clonidine on the minimum local analgesic concentration of epidural ropivacaine during labor.
UNLABELLED On the basis of the determination of minimum local analgesic concentration (MLAC), ropivacaine has been demonstrated to be less potent than bupivacaine during the first stage of labor. In this study we assessed the effect of clonidine on the MLAC of ropivacaine. Seventy-seven parturients of mixed parity requesting epidural analgesia for labor (cervical dilation, 3-7 cm) were included...

Against acetylcholine induced auricular fibrillation U·0045 showed maximum activity and U -0172, U·OI77, U-OS75 and Lignocaine were more active than quinidine. In aconitine induced fibrillation li.OI77,...
متن کاملA comparison of local anaesthetics for venepuncture.
AIM To compare the effectiveness of EMLA cream and Ametop gel in providing analgesia for venous cannulation. METHODS Single blind study in 120 children. RESULTS Both anaesthetic agents produced adequate analgesia. However, Ametop gel was more effective, with a statistically significant difference in the pain scores of the two groups (p < 0.05).
متن کاملPeriodic Classification of Local Anaesthetics (Procaine Analogues)
Algorithms for classification are proposed based on criteria (information entropy and its production). The feasibility of replacing a given anaesthetic by similar ones in the composition of a complex drug is studied. Some local anaesthetics currently in use are classified using characteristic chemical properties of different portions of their molecules. Many classification algorithms are based ...
